Recurring dream. A toothless woman in a bridal gown approaches
the groom with such alacrity that he
actually fell off his chair, startling everyone, then prompting hoots of uproarious laughter. He picked himself up

the malteaser she had dropped on the floor. It had rolled under the bed and was covered in fluff. She picked it up and
tried to talk into it passionately as if she were calling her secret lover. People in the supermarket stared.
